When does the SCC have picnics?

The University Coin Club and the Seattle Coin Club (or Seattle Numismatic Society) held summer picnics for many years. This activity has now been largely replaced by the annual banquet or is held in conjunction with another club as noted below or may be held as a private members-only event.

Where does the SCC have picnics?

Picnics were often held on a weekend afternoon at a member’s home. Very few clubs do this anymore, which is one reason SCC picnics were discontinued. However, beginning in 2008 and continuing for several years, the picnic was held at the Tukwila Community Center in conjunction with the now-disbanded King County Coin Club.

What is the picnic agenda?

Picnics were always very informal, concentrating on great food (provided by club members) and wonderful camaraderie, and often included special raffle prizes.

Where can I learn more about the history of SCC picnics?

What limited information is available is listed below. Picnic reports and photos may also appear in the club newsletter. Members can access recent newsletters online with a password.

The club was named the Seattle Numismatic Society (SNS) from 2003 to 2022. The picnic was cancelled in 2005 but was held again in 2006 and 2007 before joining with the KCCC as noted above.

July 23, 2006 – Picnic held at Del and Mary Cushing’s house. Del was a longtime active member of several numismatic clubs and organizations, including the ANA, PNNA, the SCC (SNS) and the Boeing Employees Coin Club.

July 31, 2004 – Picnic held at Del and Mary Cushing’s house.

July 28, 2001 – University Coin Club picnic at Del and Mary Cushing’s house. The UCC merged with the SCC, forming the SNS.
